Westport Fuel Systems Inc. has rebranded as Aetherion Technologies Inc., signaling a strategic narrowing focused on compressed natural gas solutions for long-haul trucking. The Vancouver company divested its light-duty business to Netherlands-based Heliaca Investments for a base price of $79 in July 2025, prompting the organizational shift. Aetherion will concentrate on HPDI—high-pressure direct injection technology—distributed through joint venture Cespira with Volvo Group. The technology powers over 12,000 trucks globally. Cespira generated $27.1 million in second-quarter revenue, up 125% year-over-year. CEO Dan Sceli emphasized the company's return to core competencies rather than pursuing multiple initiatives simultaneously. The name, derived from Greek roots meaning clean air and motion, reflects the company's refined mission. Shareholders approved the rebrand at the June 30 annual meeting. Trading under the new name on Toronto and Nasdaq exchanges awaits final regulatory clearance.
