Air cargo volumes tied to artificial intelligence shipments are decelerating after a period of explosive growth, according to data presented at the Air Cargo Forum in Miami. Cloud computing exports from Asia Pacific tripled in 2025, but demand has since moderated. Monthly growth rates peaked at approximately 10% in mid-2025 and have since slowed. Total cloud computing volumes fell to around 85,000 tonnes in August from a peak of just under 100,000 tonnes in April. Industry leaders warn that regulatory constraints, capacity limitations, and energy concerns could further dampen expansion. Despite the slowdown, air cargo professionals remain optimistic about continued AI-related shipment growth, though at a substantially reduced pace. The majority of Asia-based AI cargo routes to North American destinations.
