Apple CEO John Ternus introduced the iPhone Duo on Wednesday, marking the company's most radical physical change to the iPhone in nearly two decades. The device folds like a passport. Ternus, a mechanical engineer who took the helm this month following Tim Cook's departure, emphasized that the Duo preserves core iPhone functionality while offering the largest display ever on an iPhone. The new design reflects complex engineering but maintains ease of use, the CEO said. Ternus succeeded Cook, under whose 15-year tenure Apple's market capitalization grew nearly 13-fold. Analysts view Ternus's background in product design and engineering as potentially restoring the 'wow factor' that critics said recent Apple devices lacked. Samsung and Huawei have offered folding smartphones since 2019.
