Self-driving truck operations have expanded significantly across major freight lanes. Aurora initiated driverless services on the Dallas-Houston route in April 2025 and accumulated nearly 440,000 autonomous miles by the end of June 2026, operating across 10 routes in the Sun Belt. The company plans to deploy more than 200 driverless trucks by year-end. Atlas Energy Solutions operates over 35 autonomous Kodiak-powered trucks in Permian Basin operations, completing more than 40,000 paid driverless hours. Kodiak targets a Dallas-Houston long-haul launch by end of 2026. This week, Volvo Autonomous Solutions and Waabi began freight runs for Warp's LTL network on Dallas-Houston, with driverless runs planned for next year. The rapid deployment timeline has compressed lane activation timelines from months to weeks.
