Spanish ro-ro and multimodal operator Boluda has acquired the UK-continental Europe container shipping services from Icelandic carrier Samskip, expanding its presence in intra-European trade lanes. The transaction strengthens Boluda's multimodal capabilities across North European corridors. Samskip operates door-to-door services connecting the UK and Ireland with continental Europe and provides shortsea shipping. The deal reflects consolidation in the intra-Europe container market, where operators pursue scale and service integration. Boluda previously partnered with Samskip on a Spain-UK shortsea service launched in 2023. The acquisition demonstrates ongoing industry consolidation as carriers enhance network density and competitive positioning on European routes.
