Container shipping rates are showing mixed signals as the freight market transitions out of peak season. Drewry's World Container Index recorded significant declines on major trade lanes, with the Shanghai-Los Angeles route falling 6% week-over-week following the conclusion of the extended peak period. However, trans-Pacific and Asia-Europe routes posted gains, reflecting import demand strength. Domestic trucking markets are stabilizing despite cooling freight volumes. Reefer linehaul rates edged higher to $2.76 per mile, while dry van rates slipped to $2.24 per mile as load availability softened. Tight carrier capacity continues to provide a floor under pricing, preventing sharper declines across modes.
