Two driverless electric trucks are now in daily freight service between warehouses operated by EASE Logistics in Marysville, Ohio. The SAE Level 4 vehicles operate on scheduled routes across company property and public roads with remote monitoring only. The deployment expands upon a proof-of-concept launched in May involving Einride, EASE, DriveOhio and the Indiana Department of Transportation. Trucks began running in late August and are generating operational data on safety, reliability and efficiency. The initiative falls under the Truck Automation Corridor Project, an $8.8 million multi-year program launched in 2021 by Ohio and Indiana transportation officials to study truck automation on major regional routes. EASE has now completed three autonomous trucking deployments with DriveOhio. The companies plan to use performance metrics from daily operations to determine next phases and support expansion discussions with state regulators and potential logistics partners.
