Hong Kong's government outlined an ambitious five-year maritime strategy Wednesday, pairing its First Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development with the 2026 Policy Address to guide port operations through 2030. The initiative targets a smart and green overhaul of Kwai Tsing Container Terminals, positioning the facility as a model for sustainable operations. Officials also revamped the ship registration regime and launched a "Finance Plus Shipping" framework aimed at strengthening the city's marine insurance and ship finance sectors.
