Attorney Alex Spiro claims Gibney's nearly four-hour film promotes a debunked conspiracy theory linking SpaceX's Starlink satellites to vote manipulation in the 2024 presidential election. The legal threat centers on an exchange between Gibney and Ashley St. Clair, a former Trump campaign influencer who dated Musk. In private messages from before the November 2024 election, Musk referenced having "over 10,000 lasers in space." Election officials, cybersecurity researchers, and fact-checkers across multiple states publicly refuted claims of Starlink involvement in vote tabulation in 2024.
