Old Dominion Freight Line has claimed its 17th consecutive ranking as the nation's top less-than-truckload carrier. Daylight Transport earned its third straight overall honors. The annual industry assessment evaluated 1,647 shipper interviews conducted June through September, generating approximately 5,300 evaluations across 155 carriers, with 24 earning quality thresholds for the report. Evaluation criteria encompassed 28 service metrics including on-time delivery, damage rates, transit times, pricing and technology capabilities alongside billing accuracy, claims processing and problem resolution. Old Dominion ranked first across 24 assessed categories, particularly noting carrier trustworthiness, business ease and on-time performance. Estes secured best-value ranking among national carriers for a fifth consecutive year while also topping competitive pricing and website usefulness categories. Both XPO and Estes exceeded industry benchmarks for national operators. Old Dominion leadership emphasized that shipper selection drives the assessment's significance.
