Savannah Port Crosses 1M TEU Milestone Despite Asian Weather Headwinds

The Port of Savannah processed 529,523 TEUs in August, remaining essentially flat year over year as Asian typhoons and Panama Canal water constraints offset steady customer demand. August volume declined less than 1% compared to the prior year. Loaded imports increased 1%, while loaded exports fell 2%, or nearly 4,700 TEUs, to 117,242 TEUs. Georgia Ports Authority facilities handled 1.03 million TEUs during July and August, the first two months of its fiscal year, up 1.2% from the corresponding period a year earlier. Garden City Terminal improved operational efficiency with average truck turn times of 43 minutes for dual import-export transactions, 6.5 minutes faster than the six-month average. The Appalachian Regional Port posted record August volume, up 10% from August 2025. Brunswick's heavy machinery volumes surged 22% to 4,726 units.
