Turkon, Arkas Expand India-Mediterranean Service With Larger Vessels

Turkish carriers Turkon Line and Arkas Line are deepening their footprint on India-Mediterranean routes through an upgraded vessel-sharing agreement. The VSA was launched in early 2025 with a weekly service between West India and the Red Sea region. The carriers have added larger tonnage, with a 4,000-teu LNG-fuelled containership joining operations in July. The Kasif Kalkavan marks the first domestically built LNG-powered dual-fuel vessel in the service. This deployment follows Turkon's addition of a fifth 4,000-teu vessel last October. The carriers recently expanded service coverage with a new Egyptian port call at Safaga, updating their rotation to include Ambarli, Izmit, Aliaga, Mersin, Iskenderun, Safaga, Jeddah, Nhava Sheva, and Mundra. Turkon operates the service as Turkey-Red Sea-India while Arkas brands it as India-Med Service, with local representation through Abrao Group and Parekh Group respectively.
