UK Cyber Bill Grants Ministers Power to Mandate Tech Removals at Logistics Firms

Legislation advancing through Parliament could give British government officials authority to compel transport and logistics operators to strip out technology from vendors classified as national security threats. The Cyber Security and Resilience Bill cleared the House of Commons on June 16 and entered Lords committee stage in early September. Many operators lack visibility into their own technology infrastructure and cannot readily identify which vendors supply critical components of their operational systems. If enacted, the bill would force substantial operational changes across the industry. Logistics companies face uncertainty about which of their existing technology partnerships might be flagged for removal under the national security framework.
