Wegmans is modernizing its distribution network with a planned refrigerated facility in Rochester, New York, to handle fresh produce, meat, seafood and prepared foods. The supermarket chain operates 114 East Coast locations and aims to reduce dependence on third-party logistics providers and boost operational efficiency. The temperature-controlled warehouse will support the chain's perishable operations. Wegmans will also upgrade its returns processing center in Rochester and consolidate general merchandise operations at its Pottsville, Pennsylvania facility by spring 2027. The current Pennsylvania site, the company's oldest leased distribution center, cannot support future expansion. Construction and opening dates for the Rochester facility remain undetermined. Wegmans said the investments will strengthen supply chain resilience while maintaining current staffing levels and supporting employee transitions.
