Kenya stands to significantly expand its economy if the government intensifies efforts against graft, according to the World Bank. The multilateral lender said gross domestic product could grow by more than one-fifth over the next decade if corruption is meaningfully reduced. The gains would extend beyond headline growth figures. A sustained anti-corruption campaign would allow Kenya to substantially lower its debt burden as a percentage of GDP, improving the country's fiscal position and freeing resources for infrastructure and social spending. The World Bank's assessment underscores how institutional challenges weigh on East Africa's largest economy. Addressing governance issues remains critical for Kenya to unlock its growth potential and attract sustained foreign investment.
