Boeing secured an order from Icelease to convert a Boeing 767-300 passenger aircraft into a cargo freighter, with options for two additional conversions. The first aircraft will enter production in the first quarter of 2027, with delivery expected in the second quarter. ST Engineering will perform conversion work at its Singapore facilities. Icelease, the leasing arm of Icelandair established two decades ago, will own the aircraft before delivering them for retrofit. The converted 767-300 will support the cargo portfolio of sister company IAT Leasing, which currently operates seven converted 737-800 freighters placed with operators including ASL Aviation Holdings and Tianjin Air Cargo. The 767-300 converted freighter remains the world's most popular medium-widebody cargo option, offering a 3,300 nautical mile range and 57 metric ton payload capacity. Rising global cargo demand and shrinking passenger 767 availability are driving conversion activity.
