Cambridge Mobile Telematics launched Freight Safety Intelligence, a platform enabling brokers to assess carrier safety performance using 90-day driving data. The tool generates carrier-level safety scores validated against accident risk, leveraging existing telematics systems without requiring new hardware installations. Carriers voluntarily participate and control data sharing parameters. The platform addresses a growing compliance concern following a Supreme Court ruling that permits negligent-selection lawsuits against brokers based on carrier choice. Fatal large-truck crashes totaled 5,218 in 2024, down 3% from 2023 but up 30% since 2014, according to the National Safety Council. CMT argues traditional safety records fail to provide brokers current operational visibility. B4 Logistics CEO Brad Bergstrom stated the platform enables identification of safest carriers before booking loads.
