FedEx is capitalizing on rising demand for specialized logistics services by consolidating its parcel, freight and forwarding capabilities into dedicated teams focused on industrial sectors with complex supply chain needs.
The carrier has gained significant traction in aerospace, particularly through a new dedicated logistics process for aircraft engine transport and oversized components. Since June 2025, FedEx has moved hundreds of aircraft engines for maintenance operations, with volume increasing 15-fold from prior levels, CEO Raj Subramaniam said during third-quarter earnings.
The strategy addresses mounting pressure on airlines to keep aging fleets operational. New-generation engines require more frequent removal for repairs, while supply chain delays have slowed new aircraft deliveries. Airlines need rapid response to unexpected maintenance, parts shortages and grounding situations. FedEx's integrated approach combines transportation coordination, routing expertise and regulatory compliance support to minimize aircraft downtime.
