FMCSA Identifies 111 CDL Training Providers in Emergency Shutdown Action

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has initiated an emergency enforcement action against 111 entry-level driver training providers across 20 states. The crackdown targeted schools whose graduates failed federal English-language proficiency requirements during roadside inspections. Affected providers must immediately cease all training operations, including curriculum delivery, behind-the-wheel instruction and student enrollment. The action encompasses 84 physical locations, 23 online operations and four inactive entries. Texas and Pennsylvania led with 13 locations each, followed by California with 11, Florida with 10 and Utah with nine. Those five states accounted for two-thirds of the physical locations. Each targeted provider had trained at least 10 drivers cited for language violations, with the group collectively certifying over 5,000 such drivers. FMCSA identified targets by cross-referencing training registry records with roadside inspection data.
