The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has removed more than 10,000 commercial driver training providers from its registry since December 2025 as part of an expanded safety enforcement push. The agency also delisted over 100 noncompliant electronic logging devices from its approved equipment list. FMCSA Chief Safety Officer Steve Dowling announced the measures Wednesday at the WEX OTR Summit in Jacksonville, Florida. He emphasized a five-stage operational oversight strategy spanning driver training, licensing, carrier registration, operations and enforcement. The removals follow a separate enforcement action targeting approximately 110 training schools linked to more than 5,000 drivers cited for English-language proficiency violations. Dowling, who assumed the chief safety officer role in August after serving with the California Highway Patrol and Covenant Logistics, said the agency is implementing comprehensive pre-entry screening to prevent fraud and unsafe operations. FMCSA plans continued reviews of driver training programs and state commercial licensing operations.
