Parcel carriers are implementing steeper peak season fees for the 2026 holidays, intensifying cost pressures on shippers already contending with elevated fuel surcharges. USPS, FedEx, UPS and Amazon have all raised their holiday delivery premiums compared with 2025 levels. Amazon projects delivering more than 86% of its own packages next year, significantly reducing its reliance on third-party carriers. Trucking fundamentals are strengthening through peak season. Knight-Swift Transportation anticipates that rapid improvements in truckload market conditions, which accelerated in the second quarter, will persist and intensify starting in September. The carrier attributes this strength to regulatory improvements benefiting the transportation sector heading into the critical holiday shipping window.
