Latam Cargo transported two armored Chevrolet popemobiles from São Paulo to Lima on Monday. The specially modified vehicles were delivered in advance of Pope Leo XIV's Peruvian visit beginning November 17. The 767-300 freighter carried the three-ton vehicles, each equipped with bulletproof glass and other protective features manufactured at General Motors' São Bernardo do Campo facility. The operation, coordinated with Peru's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, required six to eight hours of airport ramp preparation using specialized tie-down systems and hydraulic equipment. Twenty personnel handled loading and unloading procedures at each location, with enhanced security protocols implemented throughout the shipment. The Pope's 12-day Latin American journey includes stops in Uruguay and Argentina, with four Peruvian cities on the itinerary. Latam operates 19 converted 767-300 cargo jets across South America.
