Miami International Airport has restored partial operations following Sunday's fatal crash involving an Amazon Air Boeing 767-300 freighter. The aircraft, operated by Miami-based carrier 21 Air, overran Runway 30 at approximately 2 p.m. local time on September 6, resulting in five fatalities. Two of the airport's four runways have reopened, allowing FedEx and DHL Express to resume normal flight operations. However, the reduced runway capacity presents challenges for sustained cargo throughput at the major U.S. air freight hub. Investigators have launched a formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Separately, volcanic activity in Southeast Asia has triggered flight cancellations and delays at Indonesian airports, adding to sector-wide capacity constraints.
