Nebraska State Patrol Seizes Record $50M Drug Shipment on Interstate 80

Nebraska State Patrol troopers intercepted a commercial vehicle carrying nearly 20,000 pounds of illicit drugs valued at more than $50 million during a Friday inspection along Interstate 80 in Dawson County. The stop marked the agency's largest drug interdiction by volume. During a routine commercial vehicle inspection, officers detected marijuana odor, prompting a full trailer examination. Authorities discovered 27 pallets containing approximately 5,200 pounds of marijuana, 13,600 pounds of THC products, and 1,000 pounds of psilocybin merchandise, including packaged gummies and chocolate bars. William Gomez, 44, of Virginia, faced controlled substance possession and intent-to-deliver charges and was lodged in Dawson County Jail. State Patrol did not disclose the shipment's origin, destination, or the motor carrier involved. The case remains ongoing.
