Shipium has introduced Always On Audit, a freight audit platform that replaces traditional monthly invoice reviews with continuous, shipment-level monitoring. The system addresses a critical industry challenge: billing discrepancies discovered weeks after invoicing make root cause analysis and credit recovery difficult.

The platform compares every invoice against a digital twin — a baseline cost record built from Shipium's existing rating and routing operations — using automated agents that run continuously. In beta testing, the system identified a customer being charged base rates instead of contracted rates, recovering many thousands of dollars.

Shipium CEO Jason Murray said advances in generative AI and agent-based systems made real-time auditing viable starting in 2022. The forensic capability extends beyond flagging dollar amounts, identifying specific details like lane, dimensioner, and station data when accessorial charges appear erroneously. The architectural approach prevents bad charges from reaching invoices rather than correcting them after the fact.
