Texas authorities uncover organized grain theft ring spanning 176 loads

Investigators in Texas have uncovered an organized theft operation targeting agricultural commodities. The initial complaint exposed 176 grain loads valued at more than $800,000. The inquiry has since expanded to encompass more than 200 confirmed or potentially stolen shipments across multiple jurisdictions. Three men face criminal charges including property theft and organized criminal activity, with additional arrests possible. The investigation began March 11 following a complaint in Guadalupe County. The Texas Department of Agriculture joined the probe on March 26, providing specialized expertise to trace cargo movements through various locations. Authorities coordinated efforts among multiple agencies including Texas DPS and law enforcement from Navarro, Ellis, Williamson, Frio and Guadalupe counties, along with Taylor police. Investigators allege suspects removed loaded semi-trailers without authorization from various facilities across the state.
