The logistics industry can deliver economic growth across every corner of the UK. Air cargo operations support £87bn in annual GVA through just-in-time delivery of high-value goods and e-commerce fulfillment. Business confidence metrics show improvement as the sector demonstrates resilience. Industry leaders are calling on government to maintain fuel duty rates including the existing 5p reduction, reform business rates to spur warehouse and infrastructure investment, and include logistics in the British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme to lower electricity costs for battery-powered vehicles. With most UK airports operating at capacity and Heathrow handling nearly £300bn in cargo annually, expansion of freight infrastructure is critical to reducing supply chain vulnerability. The sector underpins over £1trn in yearly trade across manufacturing, retail, defense and construction industries.
