Airbus Books Eight A350 Freighters From Undisclosed Operator

Airbus has landed a fresh order for eight A350 freighters from an unnamed customer. This brings its total backlog for the cargo variant to 115 aircraft across at least 14 carriers. The order was logged on August 31. The European manufacturer is preparing to launch its test flight campaign for the widebody freighter, with maiden flight expected later in 2026. First customer deliveries are targeted for the second half of 2027, requiring certification from both EASA and FAA under Amendment 27 regulations within roughly 14 months. Recent A350F bookings include additional orders from Cathay Cargo and Air China Cargo earlier this year, while Atlas Air committed to 20 aircraft with options for 20 more in March. The freighter market remains competitive, with Boeing securing 81 confirmed orders for its 777-8F variant.
