Amazon Cargo Jet Destroys Airport Infrastructure in Miami Runway Overshoot

A Boeing 767-300 freighter operating for Amazon overshot Runway 30 at Miami International Airport on Sunday, striking multiple vehicles and infrastructure. The crash killed five people and injured at least five others, according to National Transportation Safety Board Chairwoman Jennifer Homandy. Flight 7598, operated by 21 Air, arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico as the carrier's third sortie of the day from Amazon's Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky superhub. The aircraft traveled approximately 1,300 feet beyond the runway, striking a Ford Econoline van, a Toyota Corolla Cross, navigational equipment and fencing before coming to rest near a lot containing Tesla robotaxis. Two of four runways remain closed pending investigation and fuel remediation. Airport officials cannot yet access the aircraft safely, delaying recovery operations at the major Europe-North America-South America cargo and passenger hub.
