Boluda Shipping is acquiring Samskip in a deal expected to close January 1, 2027, subject to regulatory approval. The combination will create a shortsea operator spanning Northern Europe, the Iberian Peninsula, Canary Islands and West Africa.

The merged entity will operate 32 vessels with capacity exceeding 750,000 teu across 18 routes serving 28 countries. The network includes 21 maritime terminals, five rail facilities and over 500 trucks.

Boluda Chair Ignacio Boluda Ceballos said the transaction aims to establish European shortsea leadership while expanding connectivity to West Africa. The companies expect to deliver multimodal logistics solutions enabling customers to reduce carbon emissions.

Both organizations are family-controlled with extensive transport sector experience. The combined platform will offer expanded end-to-end services leveraging Boluda's maritime and logistics strengths alongside Samskip's existing network reach.
