FBI Probes Dark-Web Cache of 153M Driver's License Records Amid CDL Security Fears

The FBI is investigating a dark-web service offering access to 153 million driver's license records spanning the United States and Canada, with some entries flagged as commercial driver's licenses. The Nexus collection surfaced on a Russian cybercrime forum in late August. The operator claimed 500,000 fresh additions arrived daily and maintained continuous access spanning over one year. Researchers caution that stolen credentials could undermine driver verification processes across the supply chain. IDScan, an identity-verification provider serving distribution centers, ports, freight brokers and motor carriers, has not confirmed unauthorized system access. The FBI's New Orleans field office acknowledged the investigation while declining further comment. Authorities have not yet identified any affected transportation companies or commercial drivers, and no evidence currently links the records to cargo theft.
