ICE Opens CDL Fraud Hotline as Federal Crackdown Intensifies

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has established a dedicated tip line for reporting suspected commercial driver's license fraud, marking an expansion of federal enforcement efforts across the trucking sector. The hotline (866-347-2423) operates through ICE's Homeland Security Investigations division in partnership with the Department of Transportation. The announcement follows emergency removal of 110 driving schools from federal registries for English-language proficiency violations, with Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy citing 5,000 documented violations at those institutions. Federal investigators have received more than 1,000 leads involving potential unsafe practices and transportation-sector exploitation. HSI is examining potential CDL fraud, identity-document fraud, money laundering and labor exploitation, alongside possible connections to human smuggling and drug trafficking. The enforcement operation spans more than 200 schools across 23 states. Investigators have issued over 80 inspection notices and opened multiple probes involving fraudulent CDL issuance and shell companies.
