Loamy, a Los Angeles-based software provider for produce growers, packers, and distributors, closed a $6 million seed round led by Zeal Capital Partners, bringing total funding to $10 million. The platform uses satellite imagery and infrared analysis to identify crops heading out of specification weeks before shipment, allowing growers to redirect product to processors instead of losing loads to rejection. Retailers set specifications for color, size, testing, volume, and delivery timing. Once a rejected load ships, growers typically have one day to find alternative buyers before disposal. Loamy reports cutting rejection rates in half for customers. Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act rules allow receivers eight hours to reject shipments. Today, rejection decisions still rely on WhatsApp messages, email, and spreadsheets. Loamy's platform captures produce condition through photos at key handling stages and integrates inspection documents. It maintains traceability compliance under FSMA 204 requirements.
