Jett McCandless, founder and CEO of project44 and LSP44, received the first-ever FreightTech Vanguard Award at FreightWaves' F3: Future of Freight Festival in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The honor recognizes McCandless for his long-term impact on the freight and logistics sector. McCandless was independently selected by FreightWaves for the award.

project44, founded in 2014, pioneered real-time shipment visibility by connecting shippers, carriers and logistics providers with critical data. In July, the company restructured into two entities: project44 for enterprise shippers and LSP44 for logistics service providers. LSP44 serves brokers, forwarders and third-party logistics operators.

FreightWaves CEO Craig Fuller praised McCandless for defining a market category and demonstrating the adaptability required of founders as market conditions evolve. "I think that's ultimately what being a founder is all about: applying grit, dedication, innovation, and at times humility," Fuller said.

The F3 event also featured announcement of the FreightTech 25, highlighting the 25 most influential freight technology companies selected from the broader FreightTech 100.
