The Department of Transportation has shuttered 110 commercial driver training schools in an emergency action targeting providers with high rates of English-language proficiency violations among graduates. Texas and Pennsylvania each lost 13 schools, while California saw 11 closures. Florida and Utah followed with 10 and nine schools respectively. The five states account for 56 of the 84 physical-location schools affected, representing two-thirds of the targeted providers. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy identified the closed schools as responsible for approximately 5,000 English proficiency violations. An additional 23 online training providers without physical locations face federal review. The complete list of affected schools has not been released publicly.
