FedEx Freight has promoted Mike Rodgers to chief commercial and technology officer, broadening his responsibilities beyond his current technology role. The move comes less than two weeks after the LTL carrier terminated Mike Lyons from his chief specialized services and commercial officer position. Rodgers, who joined FedEx Freight in June 2025, now oversees technology, commercial strategy, customer experience and marketing. He brings over three decades of digital strategy experience, most recently leading technology initiatives at Pilot Company from 2015 to 2024. During the spinoff, Rodgers played a key role in separating FedEx Freight's information technology operations from parent company FedEx and developing a new LTL-specific freight pricing platform. CEO John Smith cited Rodgers' deep customer understanding and track record of creating shareholder value. The consolidation of technology and commercial leadership signals the carrier's intent to align digital capabilities with customer experience strategy.
