Federal fraud suspect apprehended during truck inspection in Pennsylvania

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested a commercial driver on federal wire fraud charges during a vehicle inspection at a Pennsylvania weigh station on September 4. Simranpal Singh, an Indian national, presented a New York-issued commercial driver's license during the inspection at the Newberry weigh station. ICE determined Singh was unlawfully present in the country. An outstanding warrant for wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud had been issued from the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Singh originally entered the United States through Arizona in June 2022 after being apprehended by Border Patrol and subsequently released. He will remain in ICE custody pending transfer to the U.S. Marshals Service for criminal proceedings, followed by removal proceedings. The arrest reflects intensified federal oversight of commercial driver licensing and immigration status compliance within the trucking sector.
