Nashville Driver Arrested After Intentional Tractor-Trailer Crash Into Aldi

A 34-year-old truck driver has been arrested following an intentional crash of a tractor-trailer into an East Nashville Aldi grocery store. Kristofer Scruggs was scheduled to make a delivery at the location when he drove the vehicle through the storefront early Thursday morning, causing more than $250,000 in damage. The crash occurred shortly after midnight when the store was closed, preventing injuries to employees or customers. Video surveillance captured Scruggs entering the parking lot and remaining stationary for several minutes before accelerating back toward the building. The tractor penetrated the storefront while the trailer lodged in the entrance. Scruggs acknowledged to investigators that he deliberately chose to crash at the delivery location. He was charged with felony vandalism and released on a $35,000 bond. Police reported no signs of substance impairment or suicidal ideation.
